Terms of Service
By creating an account or using RoboGrader, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
What RoboGrader is
RoboGrader is an informational tool. It looks at photos of comic books and produces grade estimates and defect descriptions. We make a best-effort attempt at accuracy, but the grades RoboGrader produces are not official grades from CGC, PSA, or any other grading service. They are software-generated estimates based on photos.
Not a substitute for professional grading
RoboGrader grades are for your own use — tracking your collection, deciding whether to submit a book for professional grading, or just seeing what software thinks. They are not authoritative. Do not rely on RoboGrader grades for:
- Buying or selling decisions where you're representing the book's condition to another party
- Insurance valuations
- Legal disputes about a book's condition
- Any situation where a professional grade is expected
If you make a financial decision based on a RoboGrader grade and the book later grades differently with CGC, PSA, or anyone else, that's not on us.
Grades reflect submitted photos
RoboGrader grades are based on the photos you submit. The accuracy of any grade depends entirely on the accuracy of those photos. We cannot detect manipulated, edited, cropped, color-corrected, or otherwise altered photos with certainty. If you submit altered photos — whether deliberately or by accident — the grades produced may not reflect the actual condition of the physical book. You are responsible for ensuring your submitted photos accurately represent the book.
Printed labels and verification pages
RoboGrader can produce a printable label and a verification page (at robograder.com/id/XXXXXX) for each assessment. These are tools for organizing and presenting your collection. They are not certificates of authenticity for any specific physical book. A printed label can be physically separated from the book it was generated for and placed alongside a different book. RoboGrader cannot prevent this and is not responsible for any misuse of printed labels.
If you receive a label with a comic — whether in person, by mail, or otherwise — verify that the photos on the verification page actually match the physical book in front of you. The QR code on every label links to the verification page. Buyers should always check.
Sales transactions
RoboGrader is not a party to any sale of a graded comic. We do not facilitate, broker, escrow, or guarantee any transaction. If you publicly list a comic and use a RoboGrader assessment as part of that listing, you assume full responsibility for ensuring the physical book matches the photos and grade you have published. We are not liable for any disputes, losses, or damages arising from sales transactions involving comics that were assessed by RoboGrader, including but not limited to bait-and-switch, misrepresentation, label misuse, or buyer-seller disputes.
Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your Google sign-in secure. Don't share your account with others. If you believe someone else is using your account, contact us.
Credits
Each assessment uses one credit. New accounts receive 5 free credits. Credits purchased are non-refundable once used. Unused credits remain in your account indefinitely, but we reserve the right to terminate accounts (and any remaining credits) for the reasons below.
What you can't do
Don't use RoboGrader to:
- Upload photos of anything that isn't a comic book (the app will detect and block this)
- Upload sexually explicit photography, content involving minors, graphic real-world violence, or extremist content
- Attempt to break the app, abuse the grading system, or reverse-engineer our prompts
- Submit deliberately manipulated photos to inflate grades
- Impersonate someone else
- Use automated tools to scrape, stress-test, or overload the service
Repeated invalid uploads (photos of non-comics or inappropriate content) trigger automatic restrictions: 3 invalid uploads in a 24-hour period results in a 24-hour assessment lockout, and 10 invalid uploads in a 96-hour period results in permanent account flagging for review.
Inactive accounts
Accounts with no sign-in activity for 12 months may be deleted. Before any such deletion, we will send a notice to the email address on file at least 30 days in advance. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Your content
You keep all rights to the photos you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content for the sole purpose of running the service for you. If you make a comic public, that limited license extends to showing it on the public listing page until you make it private again or delete it.
Our content
The RoboGrader name, logo, label design, RG grading score format, and underlying system are ours. Don't reproduce them for commercial purposes without permission.
Service availability
We'll try to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee uptime. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. During alpha, this is especially likely.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is." We don't warrant that grades will be accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that it will meet your specific needs. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $0 if you haven't paid us). We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or any consequential or incidental damages.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We can suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms. On termination, your data is deleted according to the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or via email. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
